To begin with I shall first appreciate the way the classroom is decorative and gives out a positive vibe. There are clearly written charts, pictures, colourful art works and most importantly that way Ms Morena interacts with the class is actually commendable. She successfully uses the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP). This method includes planning, teaching, observing and evaluating- all this is done by the teacher. The way she stresses on particular words and then explores it in and out to help her students realise the context to come up with meaningful answer is very much effective. Her instruction seemed effective as the students got to hear and understand the meaning of the words. This was possible because visual examples were used to differentiate between fact and opinion. The students were also interacting in the class which is the first positive sign of interest of students in the class.
